The Sustainable LA Grand Challenge (SLA GC) is pleased to announce that UCLA is now an institutional member of the Los Angeles Regional Collaborative for Climate Action and Sustainability (LARC), and moving forward, all UCLA affiliated faculty, staff and students may use this SLA GC-sponsored membership to receive LARC membership benefits.

The LARC is a network of local and regional stakeholders who work across a multitude of organizations to ensure Los Angeles County is prepared for the impacts of climate change. It is one of seven regional collaboratives in the state supporting climate change science, policy and planning efforts across all sectors. As Los Angeles’ sole climate collaborative network, its members include climate practitioners from city and county government, regional agencies, nonprofits, businesses and academia.

Benefits of membership give researchers and faculty the ability to connect with climate leaders, network and participate in peer-to-peer learning. LARC conducts bi-monthly member meetings with leading innovators and officials in the field, and other exclusive networking and information-sharing events. Subscribe to the newsletter for in-depth coverage of events, resources, and grant opportunities specific to the Los Angeles region and members will receive updates on regional and state policy, legislation and finances.

“The Sustainable Grand Challenge is excited to formally collaborate with this storied Los Angeles institution and we look forward to helping connect researchers to its vast network of experts to create meaningful urban sustainability change now and into the future,” said Cassie Rauser, SLA GC executive director.

LARC collaborates in land use, transportation, infrastructure, energy, water, public health, emergency response and resource management to maximize limited resources by facilitating the collective exchange of information in cutting edge initiatives, best practices, information management systems and educational efforts.

The next LARC meeting will take place on June 10, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. RSVP as a supporting member here.
