Sarah Johnson’s research sheds light on Alaskan air pollution

Synopsis: Associated Press published an article on Alaska’s poor air quality, describing the implications for other regions with similar climates and geographies. A study by Johnson is featured.  

UCLA News: The methods of Johnson’s study are discussed. “Another experiment ... used a special device to measure trace gasses or pollutants at different heights in the atmosphere. The instrument, called a Long Differential Optical Absorption Spectrometer, collects information by beaming light from a parking garage to reflectors set at different heights in Fairbanks, and then studying the information that comes back.”
