John Christensen (adjunct assistant professor at the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability) was quoted in a New York Times article about the Sierra Club’s attempt to reckon with the racist views and white supremacist beliefs of naturalist John Muir.

“The Muir ideal of the lone white man at one with nature in the wilderness excludes all kinds of people from that relationship,” said Christensen.
