Synopsis: Four cities in Orange County plan to implement cleaner electricity projects. This increase in demand for clean energy can also spur innovation and development in neighboring areas. 

UCLA News: Research by the UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation shows that increasing demand for clean energy expedites its development. “By increasing the demand for clean energy, the programs have spurred development of clean energy, [a 2020 UCLA] study found. From 2011 to 2019, community choice aggregation programs used twice as much renewable energy as required by the state … and that helped communities that were still served by private utilities also surpass requirements, it said.”
