The UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation recently named Colleen Callahan as its co-executive director. Previously its founding deputy director of 12 years, making her an integral player in the creation of the research center, Callahan’s new appointment reflects her impressive experiences and track record. In the past, she has launched initiatives including the Environmental Justice Field Fellowship Program, and facilitated new research endeavors with an emphasis in Luskin’s Climate Program.
Callahan’s new role represents the growth trajectory of the center and its vision for the future. She plans to bring her broad vision and leadership to center-wide planning, development and operations. She also plans to amplify work and increase strategic engagement and partnership initiatives in order to maximize the Luskin Center’s impact on public policy and environmental innovation.
“Everyone should be able to live in high opportunity areas with easy access to environmental and other public services,” she said. “The fact that this is not guaranteed, especially for low-income households and people of color, means we still have a lot of work to do.”
