Michael Jerrett, an environmental health science professor and chair from the Fielding School of Public Health, was quoted in the Los Angeles Times article titled, “87 days of smog: Southern California just saw its longest streak of bad air in decades.” After a summer of the worst air quality in two decades, Jerrett notes that, “There’s no question that people with preexisting lung diseases, particularly asthmatics, have had a harder time this year than they would have in previous years where there weren’t so many excrescences.”
