UCLA Professor makes a case for “sanctuary cities” for endangered species

In an opinion piece published by Citylab on June 6, 2018, Ursula Heise, the Marcia H. Howard professor of literary studies at UCLA and member of the UCLA Institute of Environment and Sustainability, suggests that cities take a more active role in what animals and plants “should form a part of our environment in the future.” Cities can be turned into multi species sanctuaries providing refuge for some non-native species struggling to survive in their original habitats.
