
Long Beach port and the Port of Los Angeles are undertaking new efforts to become greener and cleaner. The move at the twin ports was prompted by Governor Jerry Brown’s environmental greenhouse gas regulations. The ports hope to create a stand-alone, zero-emission energy source to power their activities. Colleen Callahan, deputy director of the UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation, identifies the work being done at the ports as groundbreaking. “Other ports will be watching what is done here,” she notes.
