UCLA Expert: Jisung Park: Assistant Professor, UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs
Synopsis: As climate change leads to soaring temperatures, infrastructure needs to adapt to these changing conditions. One study found that the more hot days students experience, the less they learn overall. Park spoke on the importance of air conditioning, and how high temperatures can impact student performance.
UCLA News: “The Goldilocks zone seems to be somewhere in the mid-60s. It’s a slow, hidden burn, if you will,” Park said. “These little disruptions to learning, maybe we don’t notice them on a day-to-day basis, but over time, they appear to add up to something meaningful.”
