Synopsis: Swain was quoted saying that human history has never seen persistent La Niña events with global temperatures this warm before, describing it as a “unique combination.”

UCLA News: “We already know that La Niña increases the risk of floods in some places,” Swain said. “And then you have warmer oceans and a warmer atmosphere that can supercharge those.”
