Synopsis: A new $65 million preserve is being created in California. Located between Los Angeles and the San Joaquin Valley, the Randall Preserve is intended to be both a haven for wildlife and a living laboratory for scientists.

From a biological point of view, that whole region has been known for a long time to harbor all of this very specialized diversity of salamanders and snakes.”
